Who Is Dr. Heinz?Heinz_2012-1

Date: 1/1/2012

Kristann Heinz, M.D., R.D. began her interest in medicine at the early age of six when her father, an Army Surgeon, took her on his hospital rounds. This commitment and service to others took shape in high school where she worked as a nursing assistant in the Alzheimer’s Unit of a nursing home. She then pursued a degree in Nutrition as an undergraduate student at Simmons College and completed a community based dietetic internship. She worked as a Registered Dietician running community based Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Programs in a number of venues from WIC Programs, HealthCare for the Homeless Programs and Neighborhood Health Centers. She received two Maternal and Child Health Fellowship Awards to study nutrition in adolescents and nutrition in children with developmental disabilities.

It was through her experiences in recognizing the value of nutrition in health and wellness that she decided to pursue a degree in medicine. Kristann attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and later a Family Medicine Residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network.   During residency, she began to study other healing modalities such as acupuncture, homeopathy, and herbal medicine. She is dedicated to the belief that the basis for wellness and healing lays in a foundation of good nutrition, physical movement, and emotional health.

Dr. Heinz is board certified in Family Medicine, certified in Medical Acupuncture and is a Registered Dietician.

On behalf of the entire staff, we welcome you to the Woodlands Healing Research Center.
